Quick Check at the Doc’s
I was at the doctor’s today. Everything looks fine. Baby’s heartbeat sounds good, right on target! And I’ve gained ½ a pound in the last two weeks. It was a quick appointment, so there isn’t much to report. In two weeks, I go in again for what they call the “anatomy” ultrasound where they take a good look at Baby, measuring Baby’s femur bone for growth and other such milestones. This is the appointment where many couples find out the gender of their baby. Brian and I are not sure if we want to find out; we may want to keep that as a surprise. However, he and I are both curious to know if Baby is a little person. That seems to be of more pressing concern to us. We might know at the next appointment and we might not. The doctors just aren’t sure. It may be something they won’t discover until they’ve monitored Baby’s growth over time. Anyway, something to look forward to!

My Changing Life
As I pack to leave for a retreat with a non-profit board I am a part of, I realize how many things I’m going to have to cut back on or just leave altogether. I sit on two boards right now, both of which have kept me very busy lately. And I’m the scheduler on a congressional campaign. Then there’s always my job, church, my family and my friends. It makes me tired just thinking about it all. This week has been very busy, even though it was only a four-day work week. I think I’m just feeling overwhelmed and tired.
Over the last couple of days I think Baby has become more active. Since I’ve never done this before, I can’t be sure. But, I think I can tell when Baby has shifted from one position to another. I’m much more uncomfortable when baby is more vertical in my abdomen, which is not surprising. And then I feel much better when Baby has changed to the horizontal position. I can’t necessarily feel the transition, but I feel the difference after the fact!
Answering a Few Questions
I have gotten a couple of questions from my blog so far, so let me answer them quickly.
The theme I have picked for the nursery is Suzy’s Zoo and the walls will be shades of yellow. A good friend of mine has volunteered to do the decorating and I am thrilled! If you aren’t familiar with Suzy’s Zoo, check it out at www.suzyszoo.com.
Someone recently asked about the Kneist/SED website. That can be found at www.ksginfo.org/. For those of you who know me, you may want to check this website out anyway. My picture (taken with a little boy from Utah named Lincoln) is used in their banner!
